Concerning Devotion (Psalm 63:1-8, Acts 17:27, Proverbs 8:17, Psalm 139)

Hi Beloved,
It’s been a minute. I know that all is well with you, but just in case it does not feel that way to you; always remember to bring your worries to me rather than carrying them all on your own!
Psalms 63:1-8 TPT: [1] O God of my life, I’m lovesick for you in this weary wilderness. I thirst with the deepest longings to love you more, with cravings in my heart that can’t be described. Such yearning grips my soul for you, my God! [2] I’m energized every time I enter your heavenly sanctuary to seek more of your power and drink in more of your glory. [3] For your tender mercies mean more to me than life itself. How I love and praise you, God! [4] Daily I will worship you passionately and with all my heart. My arms will wave to you like banners of praise. [5] I overflow with praise when I come before you, for the anointing of your presence satisfies me like nothing else. You are such a rich banquet of pleasure to my soul. [6-7] I lie awake each night thinking of you and reflecting on how you help me like a father. I sing through the night under your splendor-shadow, offering up to you my songs of delight and joy! [8] With passion I pursue and cling to you. Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to your heart.
Acts 17:27 EASY: [27] God did all this so that people would want to know him. They would look carefully for him and perhaps they would find him. Really, God is near to each of us.
Proverbs 8:17 CEV: [17] I love everyone who loves me, and I will be found by all who honestly search.
Psalm 139 NKJV: Psalm 139 NKJV
Have you been finding it difficult to stay consistent in devotion? Do you feel far away from me on some days because you just can’t bring yourself to say a simple word of prayer or open your Bible to read? Are you struggling with your devotion?
You know you don’t have to struggle because really, it starts with the simple things; an honest heart and a willingness to seek me. You have to approach your devotion from a place of genuine love for me because I also seek you based on my love for you.
It does not have to involve all the “works” or all the paparazzi that you think should come with it (long hours of prayer, reading plenty of chapters of the scriptures at a time, etc.). It begins with the little things, as simple as a line of prayer; like asking for strength when you feel weary.
Don’t get me wrong; I do not say all those things mentioned above are bad. In fact, I encourage you to do them but they must be from a place of genuine love for me and a sincere heart that seeks to know me.
This is the basis of devotion; a sincere heart that wants to know me and commune with me. And really, when you seek me genuinely; even in the quietness of your soul, you will surely find me because I will come to you in that instant.
So, instead of struggling and feeling guilty about not “keeping” to your devotion time as it were; just remember that it starts with the simple things. As simple as a word of prayer. Why not say something to me now, I am here, eager and ready to listen to all you have to say.
Remember, I HAVE AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE.
With love,
Abba Love
